LYCS Community Training Centre (CTC)

Newly relocated to the Metropolitan Building on James Joyce street,, Our main focus is to deliver full-time, high quality education, training, personal development and guidance services to young people (16-21yrs) from the local community. 

All learners participate on QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland) courses at Level 3 & 4 in a variety of subject areas with the aim of achieving one (or more) of the following major awards: Employability Skills (Level 3 - Foundation Programme) Pathways to Employment (Level 4 - Customer Services, Hospitality and Tourism) Sports and Recreation (Level 4) and Information and Communications Technology (Level 4)

 

LYCS Community Training Centre is co-funded by the Irish Government, the European Social Fund and the Youth Employment Initiative as part of the ESF Programme for Employability Inclusion and Learning 2014 -2020

The CTC is running the following programmes in

2022-2023:

  • ​Pathways to Employment

  • Digital Media and Information Technology

  • Sport and Fitness - There is free gym membership with this course.

  • Employability Skills (Level 3)

 

You must be aged between 16 and 21 years to join the course.

All classes have no more that 10 learners in each group.

You will receive intensive one to one support from our Career Guidance Advocate.

Training Allowances*

Training Allowance

  • 16 and 17 year old learners can receive a training allowance of €45 per week

  • 18 + year olds can receive a training allowance of up to €208 per week

 

Travel Allowance

  • In some cases a travel allowance my be payable

    • 5 - 8 Kilometers: €4.60 per week

    • 8 - 16 Kilometers: €11.90 per week

    • 16 - 32 Kilometers: €17.60 per week

The centre has close working relationships with many local employers, educational institutions and a wide variety of services that can assist the young people to gain confidence, independence and maturity and to get the most from their time on the education and training programme that we offer. 

The programmes encourage social interaction, the development of professional relationships with their fellow learners, tutors and work colleagues.
