Testimonials

'It's a godsend. She loves it here. I couldn't do without it' - Aoife's Mammy

'Our son was diagnosed with Autism just before we got offered our place in the creche. My fella can't talk and the girls are just amazing with him and really see him as an individual and try to meet his needs as much as possible. I was struggling at the time with my son's diagnosis and Lesley and Monica really helped me through it. I have to say all the staff have really been amazing with me and my son. We really are so lucky to have gotten a place and I really can't thank the girls enough for their patience, understanding and caring nature towards my son. LYCS really has changed our lives for the better, my son is like a different child but in a good way' - Ben's Mam

'Before I started my childcare CE scheme at the LYCS, I was a single mother living in an area that I wasn't very familiar with. I was beginning to feel very lonely and isolated as I had no family or friends living close to me. Through working in the creche on a CE scheme, I feel my confidence has grown and I am a much happier person and mum. I have completed my FETAC Level 5 and recently started my QQI Level 6 in Childcare training which is funded as I was on a CE Scheme. I feel through working in the creche and with the continued support from the staff that I want to continue to educate myself going further and show my child that education and work are important. I started a 30 hour a week position in the creche last year so it's all worked out really well' - Lucy

'I am living in homeless accommodation with my 2 children. It is great that the kids get to go to creche to learn and play. It takes them out of the hotel were we live. They get to run about, play in a fun place in the creche. They get good food. It makes them happy and gives me space to think' - Kelsey and Kian's Mam

'It's hard being from another country with children. I need them to be happy and mix. They are very kind and help me too' - Jennifer

'Upon meeting the team in LYCS, I felt a sudden feeling of care and trust. It was like I was handing my baby over to a "Mammy" and got the warmest feeling that he would get the upmost care. As a woman and being the primary carer for her family, this eased the guilt I felt leaving my baby every day. I always felt comfortable to call and check how he was throughout the day or if he was a little unwell through the day, the team would always be sure to monitor him closely. In November 2017 I graduated with second class honours and because of Lesley and the team I was able to have my Mam and partner watch me graduate. I now work in the homeless sector and will hopefully sign a full time contract this summer. Gaining a place for my son in LYCS has given me the means to do this and to be able to break a cycle of poverty for my children and for this I am forever grateful. - Lisa
